A marker float helps you to map out the water in front of you, and tell you the exact composition of the lakebed.They are your underwater eyes and allows you to "see" the lakebed and choose the exact spot to place your bait.

How it "feels": As the ledger drags across the bottom, the "feel" is transmitted back to the angler through the braid. If it goes through gravel, you'll hear a very distinct "knock, knock, knock" sound. The silt will create a steady, constant pressure and the rod tip will bend slightly before it starts to move. The harder it is to pull the wire back, the thicker the weeds will be.
