Awesome vice

I am completely new to fly tying - this vice has made entering the hobby so much easier and relaxing. I had originally purchased a low-quality Amazon recommended vice for almost the same price as this, and it was absolute garbage. This vice is incredibly well made; the materials rotate smooth and precisely, and the quality is very high. I ordered the package which came with the case and stand, and the stand is absolutely worth the purchase if you are not a fan of the vice-clamp option. I like how sleek the design is, and while I have only practiced with tying larger size ocean hooks I can tell that this vice supports hooks of all sizes. The materials feel very sturdy and I am sure this vice will last me many years until I feel professional enough to upgrade to a vice with more bells and whistles!

Impressive quality at this price

46 years tying for fresh and salt water. This vise offers the widest hook size range I've seen without breaking the bank or changing out jaws. Ordered one and crossed my fingers. I'm impressed, locked an 8/0 hook with room to spare and then a size 22 solidly. Materials are quality and metal, rotary feature is smooth and spins true. Case is nice, comes with some simple tools and a spare O ring. Time will tell how well it holds up to heavy use but for most this should be all the vise they need and there will be plenty left over for materials.

Fantastic vice for the price

Had the cheap 20 dollar black vice for years, saw the video of the other reviewer and it convinced me to purchased it and it's sooo much better. Holds hooks very strong, and easy to take the hook of the vice. Definitely recommend this vice.

great for tying baits.

Works well for repainting baits, making bucktail jigs, building inline spinners, and tying flies. I do a lot of fishing and repairing my baits is common, from replacing hooks to building my own spinners. This fly tying vise is great for that purpose. It's bench clamp holds tight to your bench top, but I think I'm going to mount it more to the center of my bench so when I drop parts I find them easier. The rotating head can be locked tight or backed off to put tension while rotating. It hold tight to any hook size you use. This Dr.Fish Rotary Fly Tying Vise at this price is a great addition to anyone's bench who either builds their lures or repairs them.

Outstanding quality vise

This is a attractive, well made fly tying vise. It has a good solid base clamp and is easy to mount. The arms and the stem all rotate 360 degrees. The entire unit is easily adjustable.
